Ambient hosts “Valentine’s Verse” Poetry Challenge for staff & people we support

This Valentine’s Day, Ambient Support are helping spread the love with our Valentines Verse challenge! Staff and people who use our services are invited to share uplifting words that warm our cockles and make the heart sing!

Whilst receiving a love poem is oh so romantic, did you know that creative writing itself has a positive impact on mental wellbeing? Davina Sellick, Director of Marketing & Communications, tells us “Expressing yourself through any art form, including creative writing, is an essential part of maintaining our mental wellbeing. It gives us the opportunity to off load what’s on our mind, helps us to step back from it, and process things. Perhaps most importantly, it puts us in the present moment. This is just one of the reasons why we keep up daily creative activities for the people we support, including encouraging creative writing.

Especially in today’s world, where so many rules are in place and we can begin to feel restricted, creative writing is an isolated activity that still provides us with the opportunity to express ourselves. Ambient’s Valentine’s Verse challenge is a great way to bring people together through the shared experience of matters of the heart.”

Throughout the week, we’ll be posting excerpts from some of our poetry entries across our Twitter and Facebook pages.

The entries will be judged by our Chair of Trustees and the wordsmith himself, David Brindle, and the three winners will be announced on Valentine’s Day, 14th February. Winners will receive the traditional Valentine’s gifts of flowers and chocolates!

We look forward to sharing the love with you over the next few months! #AmbientSharesTheLove #AmbientValentinesVerse #CreativeWriting #MentalHealth
