Ambient welcomes new Chair of Board of Trustees, David Brindle

Ambient Support is delighted to announce the appointment of David Brindle as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees.

David has succeeded Simon Griffiths, who stepped down from his role after completing a 12 year term of office, with the last 3 in the Chair.

David is the current Public Services Editor of The Guardian newspaper and brings not only his experience as a senior social policy journalist but a wealth of understanding and knowledge from previous non-executive roles, most recently with Recovery Focus (Richmond Fellowship) where he was vice-chair. He formerly chaired the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi). Additionally, David holds several advisory positions for bodies including the NCVO and NIHR School for Social Care Research and is a regular public speaker and broadcaster.

Speaking of his appointment, David said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Ambient Support to help lead the next stage in its growth. It’s an organisation with huge ambition, a fresh identity and a team utterly committed to provision of truly personalised care and support. For me it’s these values – the Ambient Way – that stand out and give the charity the exciting potential to become a sector leader in specialist services, ensuring people are able to maximise their wellbeing and achieve their personal goals.”

Deputy Chair to the Board, Margaret Lally added:

“We are delighted that David will be joining Ambient Support as the new Chair of the Board. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise gained from working with other voluntary sector organisations. He greatly impressed the interviewing panels, which included people that use our services, with his knowledge of governance, the social care sector and commitment to ensuring user involvement.

David is a highly respected commentator on social policy and understands the challenges and opportunities that the sector will be facing in our new world. We are confident he is the right person to lead and stretch us in implementing our ambitious new strategy. All at Ambient look forward to working with him.”
