A special award presented to Warren for his outstanding support

Warren Dunkley is a Care Co-ordinator for Oxleas NHS Trust and part of the Bromley Community Mental Health Rehab team.

As a qualified Occupational Therapist, he helps people of all ages overcome disabilities and works toward improving both mental and physical wellness. Ambient Support are lucky enough to be one of the organisations he works with, and we have been so in awe of his unwavering support and dedication during Covid-19, we decided to create a unique award for him.

Warren was presented with his special award this week, which included an engraving thanking him for going ‘Above and Beyond’ in helping people that Ambient supports.

Sarah Hearne is Locality Manager for Ambient’s Mental Health services in Bromley and says that Warren is a well-known and much respected face amongst both Ambient staff and the people they support. Whilst his unrelenting efforts have been recognised over the years, with emails of thanks and praise, Sarah felt that his dedication during the pandemic was deserving of something more special.

Sarah said: “Warren is an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate person who has really gone above and beyond to improve outcomes for people in our services. Lockdown has been an extremely challenging time for those we support, and Warren’s unwavering enthusiasm for his role and desire to help others has been outstanding. The relationships and rapport he has built with people is truly amazing and we wanted him to know how incredible and valued he is by the team at Ambient.”

When lockdown struck, the usual weekly exercise and gym sessions Warren ran for people with lived experience of mental ill-health came to a grinding halt. But that did not deter him. Warren improvised and innovated and started a new series of outdoor classes in Ambient projects, motivating people to join in and benefit from the sessions.

Donve Thompson-Boy, Warren’s Manager at Oxleas NHS Trust Foundation said: “We are incredibly proud to hear how Warren’s innovative and proactive manner has helped service users at Ambient during this difficult time. Warren quickly recognised how the loss of structured activities would negatively impact service users’ mental health, so he initiated a series of activities using the outdoor space, which have been greatly welcomed by service users during a challenging time when they are feeling isolated. It’s people like Warren that really make a difference to people’s lives and we are delighted that he has received the recognition he deserves.”
